Lawyer of the Year 2005 Awarded to Glatzová & Co. in the Fields of Banking, IT and Competition
Dr. Vít Horáček, an associate of Glatzová & Co. law office and leading lawyer of its IT team, was awarded the Lawyer of the Year award in the field of information technology. JUDr. Vladimíra Glatzová, founding associate of Glatzová & Co., was awarded this prestige title in the field of banking and was only one of two women awarded in the competition. JUDr. Glatzová was also awarded second place in the field of competition.
This was the first year of the professional competition lawyers, which was created by the founders of epravo.cz portal and supported by The Czech Bar Association (CBA). The competition was judged by the CBA, with the CBA chairman, JUDr. Vladimír Jirousek, sitting as chairman of the professional jury, which together assessed 166 nominated lawyers.
The vote took place solely via the internet and began on July 15, 2005. Lawyers could be nominated both by the lay and professional public. Nominations closed on October 25, 2005, after which the professional jury awarded titles in eight different professional categories, with one title according to the vote of the lay public and one special title for contribution to Czech law.
The other awarded lawyers included prof. JUDr. Milan Bakeš, DrSc. in the field of finance, JUDr. Pavel Holec in the field of development, JUDr. Karel Čermák in the field of copyright law, JUDr. Jiří Balaštík in the field of real estate, JUDr. Karla Chlumská in the field of advertisement law, and Mgr. Daniel Čekal in the field of competition law. JUDr. Petr Toman won the lay public award.
The special award for contribution to Czech law was awarded to JUDr. Karel Čermák, former Minister of Justice and former chairman of CBA, who was the first to enter the lawyers “Honour Hall”.
