After graduating from the Charles University Faculty of Law in Prague, Stanislav Plíva worked as an attorney for the state administration and in 1964 he took the position of legal assistant of the Charles University Faculty of Law, where he was involved in the establishing the Department of Economic Law. His focus has been mainly on the issue of national property and its management, as well as on the general issues of economic justice and obligation. In 1990 he began to focus on commercial law, particularly general issues and trade obligations. Until 2005 Mr. Plíva headed the Department of Commercial Law at Charles University Faculty of Law and is a member of Scientific Council at the faculty of Law. In addition to teaching and scientific activities at the university, he is also engaged in legislative activity as a member of the Committee for Recodification of Private Law. His lecturing for the legal community is extensive and he remains in touch with the practise of law via consultations and providing expert’s reports.
Stanislav Plíva constantly publishes in law journals. He is a co-author of the Comment on the Commercial Code, which has been published in ten editions, the three-part monograph Obchodní právo (Commercial Law) and Základy obchodního práva (The Basis of Commercial Law). He has also authored the monograph Hospodaření s národním majetkem (Management of National Assets) and Privatizace majetku státu (Privatization of State Property). He is member of the Editorial board of the journal Právní rozhledy.
Mr. Plíva has been an expert consultant for the law office Glatzová & Co. since its establishment in April 1994. He provides regular consultations on complicated legal problems to the young members of our team, helping them develop and hone their legal view. His deep knowledge of both legal theory and judicial practice is an invaluable contribution not only to our firm, but also to our clients.
